Jerome J Money Wood

Jerome "J Money" Wood was born in the Englewood area of Chicago’s Southside. He was murdered on September 2nd, 2013(Labor Day) with a gunshot to the head. He was shot in the in the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue and was 21 years old at the time of his death. According to J Money’s twitter account, he had a baby on the way at the time of his death.


J-Money was a member of the rap group OTF as well a Black Disciples gang member from the set known as O'Block. Though his killer was not caught, many believe his death was likely a result of the gang violence which has been plaguing Chicago for a long time. Upon his passing many of his friends took to twitter to express their condolences. Lil Durk, owner of OTF, and probably the one most closely associated with J Money said the following on his twitter “Rip jmoney we just lost a savage who put tears in n*ggas family eye you aint never forgotten #oblock300 f*ck da bricks”.

Though JMoney’s friends were taking to twitter to express their condolences, gang members from rival gangs were mocking his death. On the day that JMoney died, FBG Duck, a member of a rival gang known as the St Lawrence Boys tweeted “Oblock Sorry For Yall Lost Lmao...”. Not only were tweets posted dissing J-money, long after his death, rappers from rival gangs often mock him in their songs.

Money Gang (Munna Gang)

Following J Money's death, gang members from O'Block adopted the nickname "Money Gang (Munna Gang)" in his honor.

Who Shot J Money

Though J Money's killer was never apprehended, it is widely believed that he was shot by Raason "Lil B" Shaw. Lil B was shot to death in 2014 by the Chicago Police Department.
