Shyste Kokane (LOC) was born Tyrief “Timothy” Gary in Brooklyn, New York and was a member of the Crips gang. On September 5, 2011, Shyste was shot in the chest at a Labor Day cookout on E. 54th, he was taken to Kings County Hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

According to Authorities, Shyste was the leader of the G Stone Crips, and was murdered by another Brooklyn gang known as BMW (Brooklyn's Most Wanted). According to the NYPD, members of BMW were barred from the Labor Day party on E. 54th St. and decided to retaliate by gunning down Tyrief Gary (Shyste) along with 3 other individuals. The death of Shyste sparked a war between the G. Stone Crips and BMW which led to several shooting incidents between the two gangs.

Shyste is often mentioned in rap songs by GS9 rap members such as Rowdy Rebbel whom had a song titled “Shyste Time” in which he said “They say them boys turned crazy after Shyste died - Look around b*tch, it’s shyste time - But shyste ain’t dead, he just went to Vegas - With his .45 and a couple Haitians.” Bobby Shmurda also mentioned him in his song “Hot Nigga” in which he said “Like I talk to Shyste when I shot n*ggas.”
