Snitch is defined by the Merrian-Webster as “a person who provides information about another's wrongdoing”. Snitches are looked down upon by most criminal organizations due to the fact that they might turn them in to authorities. Snitches are often called rats, especially in mob organizations. Retribution against snitches has become a problem in crime ridden neighborhoods, where people deemed snitches are often beaten badly and at times killed. Actions such, as those has forced law binding citizens to no longer cooperate with officials in order to avoid being labeled a snitch.
