Actavis PLC is a large Pharmaceutical company from the United States, it is well-known for their production of Cough Syrup with Promethazine Codeine. Actavis is the world's third-largest generics prescription drug manufacturer. The company develops, manufactures and markets generic, branded generic, and Over-the-Counter (OTC) products.
Actavis' Cough Syrup contains Promethazine Codeine, which lead to many young adults abusing it to get high. Young adults often use it to make a drink concoction known as "Sizzurp (Lean)." Actavis' is considered top of the line Cough Syrup, and has an expensive street value due to the fact that it's a prescription drug, authorities claim a bottle of Actavis can cost hundreds of dollars in the streets.
Many rappers have promoted Actavis' cough syrup in their songs. Chicago rapper Lil Herb said "Dooski call it Actavis - I’m gon' off a six" in his song "4 Minutes of Hell Part 2." In 2014, as a result of the negative press from its cough syrups, Actavis made the unprecedented decision to stop production of all products containing Promethazine Codeine.
