Amina Buddafly was Born on April 18, 1983, in the country of Germany, the Love and Hip Hop star has led a varied and interesting existence. She hails from a very musical family, was born and raised in Hamburg, and grew up with a Senegalese father who played jazz music as a hobby. She developed her singing skills by listening to him play alongside of her German mother and two sisters, singing with them whenever she could.
Amina Buddafly Music Career
According to her family, Amina was able to sing before she could talk and her mother also stoked her musical fires by introducing her to a number of classic R&B artists, such as Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire and the Jackson 5. At age 6, Amina joined a local classical choir, performing in musicals and touring with other local groups.
Amina began writing her own music at the tender age of 13 and had already signed a record deal with her sisters Jazz and Sophie by the time she was 14. Once she learned how to record in a traditional studio, she knew that this was her passion.
They formed an R&B group of their own, known as Choyce, eventually releasing a single that did not chart. After a childhood spent in Germany, the group decided to move to New York to pursue a career in the music industry. They had no plan and were armed with only their own grit and determination.
Eventually, the girls decided to change their name to Black Buddafly and became a duo when Sophie decided to leave the group. After having originally signed to RCA, Black Buddafly migrated to Def Jam and released their debut single "Rock A Bye" in 2005.
The following year, Def Jam released their follow up single "Bad Girl", which featured Fabolous and was also used for the Waist Deep film soundtrack. The group eventually disbanded and Amina began to pursue her solo career, releasing her first independent EP I Am Part I in February 2013. I Am Part II was also released later that year.
Amina Buddafly Love & Hip Hop
Amina is now dating Peter Gunz, of "Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)" fame. The rapper has now become a manager and since Gunz is currently in cohabitation with Tara Wallace, the mother of his two children, this has made for quite an intriguing season of Love and Hip Hop.
This past year has been an important one in the career of Amina. She released her first full length solo LP, entitled My Music, and is currently fighting to ensure the continued health of her relationship with Peter Gunz. She is now a loving mother to her daughter Cori and looks to continue building her career, while starring in the popular VH1 hit Love and Hip Hop.
