16 year old Marcus Ybarra is a young ambitious rapper from Minneapolis, MN. Starting at age 7, Marcus was hooked on hip-hop/rap pioneers like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy and Eminem. Unfortunately Marcus once got into trouble for rapping at school but that would soon inspire his musical career. One of Marcus’ greatest inspirations is his grandfather David. David is widely known for his affiliation with David Ybarra and the Northside Dukes, a band in Minneapolis. His mother also helped him memorize rap lyrics. Although Marcus comes from a background of multiple genres, he also enjoys listening to Metallica, Hall and Oates, and Mötley Crüe. His love for rock and blues did not stop him from continuing his true passion, rap.
Marcus finally earned his spot in the Minnesota music limelight when Lil Bandz featured him on the track “Got a Check”. The hit was originally created in a packed house filled with kids running around and fans blowing. The low quality record was released the next day. Following the production of “Got a Check” Lil Bandz and Marcus woke up to people playing their new song everywhere. The song was finally recorded in a real studio and the video was shot by Dill Records. Since the collaboration with Lil Bandz, Marcus Ybarra has recorded a summer jam titled “Kush and Lean”. Marcus has been recognized as MNFuse’s September Artist of the Month and performed for Do or Die.
