D'Thang, whose real name is “
Devon Varner”, was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the
Black Disciples gang, from the set know as
600. D Thang died in 2011; after his death, the 600 gang decided to adopt the nick D’Block in honor of D Thang. Those unfamiliar with gangs, often misinterpret Black Disciples rapper saying D Block for the D Block slang which means to rob someone. One should also note that D Block is a very popular gang name, so it’s not uncommon to hear other gangs referring to themselves as D-Block.
