Tay Town is a faction of the notorious Black Disciples gang, strategically based on 61st and Normal in Chicago, Illinois. The moniker "Tay Town" was embraced by these members as a tribute to Devonte “Tayski” Childress, a respected figure within their ranks. Tragically, Tayski succumbed to gunshot wounds on July 8, 2011, following an attack on July 6 of the same year. Tay Town is affiliated with the larger 300 gang.
Memorializing through Names
In Chicago, it is a prevalent custom among gangs to adopt names that honor deceased members, solidifying their legacy within the community. For example, O'Block and Tooka Gang are similarly named in memory of fallen individuals who held significant roles in their respective groups.
