Kap G

Kap G, a prominent rapper hailing from the South Side of College Park in Atlanta, Georgia, stands out in the music industry with his unique blend of cultural influences and compelling artistry. Originally known as 'Lil G,' he evolved into Kap G, a name that combines his group's title 'K.A.P.' with his childhood moniker. Acknowledging Kanye West as a major influence, Kap G is currently signed with Atlantic Records. Despite being perceived as a newcomer, he has already collaborated with notable figures such as Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Kirko Bangz, and Chief Keef.

Early Life and Background

Born in the United States to Mexican parents who initially resided in California, Kap G is the youngest of six siblings, with four brothers and one sister. The family's relocation to College Park was prompted by his mother's desire to protect her children from gang influences, after discovering one of his brothers was involved with gangs at a young age. Kap G's birthplace, Grady Hospital, has earned him the local nickname 'Grady Baby.'

Cultural Influence and Career

Kap G's music is heavily influenced by his Mexican heritage, which is often highlighted in his music videos. This cultural backdrop provides an additional dimension to his rap career, allowing him to authentically rap about both Mexican and African American experiences—reflective of his upbringing in the predominantly African American community of College Park. Kap G is committed to enhancing the representation and respect of Mexican rappers within the industry, noting the scarcity and underestimation of Mexican talent in rap.
